Samsung has announced that by the end of March, nine devices will receive the update to One UI 6.1 – and thus various AI features.
Samsung’s new flagship is called “AI” or Galaxy AI, which is artificial intelligence. With the S24 Series, we get all AI-based features fully and it’s only a matter of time until other Samsung devices are equipped with these smart features.
For some Galaxy models, this time will come soon: The South Korean manufacturer has announced that the update to One UI 6.1 will be rolled out at the end of March for nine current models outside the S24 Series.
One UI 6.1: Nine devices from 2023 receive a major update
Owners of the following devices can look forward to One UI 6.1 at the end of March:
- Galaxy S23 Ultra
- Galaxy S23+
- Galaxy S23
- Galaxy S23 FE
- Galaxy Z Fold 5
- Galaxy Z Flip 5
- Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra
- Galaxy Tab S9+
- Galaxy Tab S9
What AI features are included in the update to One UI 6.1? Almost all AI-based features introduced with the S24 Series will be integrated into the models mentioned above.
In particular, there’s Circle to Search, a smart way to encircle objects on the screen and automatically get relevant search results with further information without needing to switch apps.
The “Live-Translator” feature is also present, which will transcribe what the speaker says and translate it into your own language if necessary.
Furthermore, with One UI 6.1, various features listed below will also be available on the mentioned Galaxy devices:
- Translator: In addition to the live translator, there’s also a translator function for personal conversations.
- Browser: Samsung’s internet browser comes with a new AI feature to summarize news articles, which according to our experience, works quite accurately.
- Samsung Keyboard: The keyboard on your phone is also fine-tuned with AI and provides translations and enhanced grammar checks.
- Notes: With Samsung’s Notes app, (handwritten) notes can be summarized and even translated.
- AI Wallpapers: Smartphones and tablets from 2023 will soon be able to create new wallpapers using AI, if you want a new look.
- Magic Editor: The tool we already know from the Pixel Series is also available on the Galaxy S24 and will soon be available on other smartphones and tablets. With it, objects in a picture can be enlarged, reduced, or placed elsewhere.
- Photo Editing: Photos can be polished with a single tap.
- Instant Slow-mo: With this feature, additional images for slow-motion videos will be generated. However, this feature is only available for the Galaxy S23 Series, Z Fold5, Z Flip5, and Tab S9 Series.
Additional Features in One UI 6.1
Even if you don’t find artificial intelligence so exciting, Samsung’s latest update is expected to include five cool new features. “Expected,” because the manufacturer has not yet officially confirmed the changes.
First and foremost, it’s worth mentioning the new Always-on-Display, inspired by the iPhone. In this case, the background image of the lock screen is slightly dimmed.
Speaking of the lock screen: With the S24 Series, there will also be new lock screen widgets on smartphones.
Also new is the Samsung Find app, a new central hub for finding all Galaxy devices and more.
It’s possible that the app previously exclusive to the Galaxy S24 will land on other smartphones and tablets with the update to One UI 6.1. Once we have more information, you’ll find out on SeorangTech.
